Many years ago a certain professor R. Delinis researched the behavior of a species he came to name “Ikai”. Dividing the creatures into two kinds of breeds, he studied them until the very day he died. However, all of this happened thousands of years ago, and after the Ikai had supposedly gone extinct, no one payd any mind to his documentations . After the Ikai have been rediscovered, and Delinis’s documentations on them (which were seen as the most accurate one at the time) were researched. People found the Ikai had evolved. Soon researchers found that Delinis’s documents were accurate in his days, and that the Ikai had gone through a serious process of evolution within a short amount of time.

Many of the questions concerning their evolution will remain a mystery, but with today’s technology and scientific abilities, we may come closer to learning about this unique species. Using reconstructions and various sources which contained material which could be seen as “Ikaian” science has found a very likely way how the Ikai had evolved after R. Delinis’s death.

The Ikai Felix
The first breed of breed Delinis researched were the Ikai “Felix”, a very hostile and territorial creature in his time. He described them as the “dictators of their territories”. He believed that the Ikai Felix were often hunted down for their tails, which could be made into strong weapons. He also claimed that their suspicion and anger became a vital part of their evolution, allowing them to become stronger than any other creature. Eventually nothing was able to harm them anymore, and they enjoyed being at the top of the food chain. However, due to the fact that they were pretty much invincible, they soon found they had developed a serious weakness: Blood loss.

Ikai Felix cannot lose much blood, other ways they’ll die. Due to this they became careful around sharp objects, ridding their territory of any sharp thing they could find. They’d even go as far as to avoid forest out of fear sharp braches of thorns would scratch them and draw blood. This lead to popular belief that an Ikai Felix would die if they even lost as much as one drop of blood. This is obviously false.

However, in their fear of blood loss the Ikai Felix became less violent and more focused on maintaining strong bonds with its family and other creatures living in its territory. It only choose to fight whenever a family member was in direct danger. They even changed into herbivores so they could avoid having to fight a creature for flesh. Most Ikai Felix observed still have a diet based on plants, fruits and vegetables, but they ever so slowly start to inch towards becoming omnivores, something a few Ikai Felix already reached.

On social standart the Felix are very protective of their families, and they form strong bonds with them. In a young Felix finds another Felixian mate, both families will come together and migrate to a new territory far away from both their old ones. This can cause one family to have as much as 1000 members, with  only a quarter of them really related by blood. The Felix also seem to take in small creatures such as bunnies, rats, mice, dogs and such, much like how humans have pets.

All of this can be inaccurate to the truth, as the Ikai Felix prefer to stay away from humanity, making them harder to study.

The Ikai Helix
The second type of Ikai R. Delinis studied were the Ikai “Helix”, which were seen as the more fragile version of Ikai. However, Ikai Helix became much more dangerous than the Ikai Felix could ever be due to gaining multiple, almost ‘supernatural’ abilities and an innocent, often hurt appearance.

Like Ikai Felix, the Helix were often the prey of predators. However, unlike the Felix who fought back, the Helix made itself appear broken, hurt and incapable of fighting, to lure predators to it. It would lay down in a place, making sure it was easy to see, and when a predator would sniff it to see if it was alive or not the Ikai Helix would use its sharp teeth to tear open the predator’s throat, killing it instantly. Due to this they obtained the reputation as ‘dangerous food’ among carnivores, forcing the Helix to rely on other tricks.

Ikai Helix eventually began relying on young carnivores to hunt for them. They’d make cubs of lions, wolves and other hunters look them in the eyes, flashing  signs at them only their subconscious would pick up. In a way it was almost as if the Helix were hypnotizing them. During the performance of their hypnosis their eyes would appear to get a darker color, which in reality are just signs the Helix flashes at its victim.  Once hypnotized the cub would follow the Ikai Helix around and aid him in hunting down and killing prey. This can be compared to humans taming wolves.

Whenever a victim tried to break its state of hypnosis the Helix would use a secondary ability it received trough evolution: Hemokinesis, or blood control. It would make the blood of its victim tear trough it skin, making it bleed to death. After it died the Helix would just eat it.

Due to its hypnotic abilities and its hemokinesis it was only a matter of time before the Ikai Helix would come into contact with humans. It began with children going missing, and unexplainable suicides. Soon the humans discovered it were the Helix, and dubbed them ‘innocence demons’.

Despite their horrible nature of hypnotizing and killing, the Ikai Helix soon began to look up to the humans, who had big houses and managed to live trough the harshest of winters with a lot less effort than the Helix did. This soon led to a deal being made between various Ikai Helix and humans: The Ikai would protect the humans from other, hostile Ikai, and the humans would offer shelter and food. This became completely normal in a matter of years, and the ‘wild’ Ikai Helix had gone extinct in less than 250 years.

The humans eventually began seeing the Helix as some sort of deity, but no longer a bad one. Ikai Helix had an incredibly long lifespan, only dying after being bested in a fight or hypnotized into killing itself. One family had an Ikai Helix which lived there for many generations, reaching an age of 9567 years old. Due to this it is rumored Ikai Helix can become 10000 years old, but so far it has not yet been confirmed.

Due to the fact that Ikai Helix live among humans they gained the ability to understand human speech, and to communicate with humans, either verbally or through their previously ‘hypnotic’ ability. The Helix saw themselves as equal to the humans, and were often deemed ‘healers’ due to their ability of hemokinesis having been altered to speed up the process of healing injuries. It is unknown if Helix can still use their hemokinesis to hurt others or if they have forgotten about its dangerous origin.

Ikai Helix are socially not very strong, and prefer to stay away from their own kin. If a Helix get a mate, it will stay with it until the day one of them dies, but it will not take care of any offspring they might have. If the Helix’s mate dies, they are very likely to commit suicide and follow them into the afterlife. This has inspired many writers and poets.

Due to the carefully documentated past between humans and the Helix it is failry certain that this is how the Ikai Helix evolved.
